Conversation Peas: The Best Ads of 2015 Posted on December 16, 2015 By Nathan Binder 2015 has been a fantastic year for strategic, creative, and stunning advertising. Year after year, agencies continue to innovate the way they tell stories and create immersive experiences. We love working in a field that pushes artistic concepts forward. Here are some of our favorite ads from last year, in no particular order.Dodge: Wisdom "I'm a sucker for these feel-good advice videos from old people. The twist halfway through is a wonderful way to snap out of some incoming tears!" -Kristin Bass-Petersen, VP Digital MediaSnickers: The Brady Bunch "I love the Snickers commercials!! Especially the one with Danny Trejo and Steve Buscemi! I always pay attention to humor and I think Snickers hits the nail on the head with how we act when we are hungry! I can totally relate and I can get really 'hangry!'" -Lori Finn, Office AdministratorAnuncio Lotería de Navidad 2015: Justino "I like 'Justino' because it feels more like a Pixar short than an ad, the animation is gorgeous. The emotion and story come through despite the language difference, and the soundtrack is great." -Nathan Binder, CopywriterAndroid: Furever Friends "It might look like pieced-together user-generated content but the editing in this is delightful. The way the clips match the lyrics is a treat. At first I thought this was just a viral video people were sharing of cute animal videos, but I didn't feel betrayed when I found out it's an ad at the end like some other commercials can do." -Kristin Bass-Petersen, VP Digital MediaExtra Gum: The Story of Sarah & Juan "That Extra Gum commercial! I loved how they told such a moving story that came full-circle in under 2 minutes." -Melissa Lidsky, Art Director John Lewis: Man On The Moon "From British department store John Lewis, another ad that doesn’t feel like an ad. I love the color contrast in the home versus the stark white of the moon, and the facial expressions of the old man, but what really makes this spot is the airy cover of Oasis’ 'Half the World Away.'" -Nathan Binder, CopywriterSainsbury's: Mog's Christmas Calamity "I love everything about this. As an animator and video editor I am always going to tune into any kind of animated advertising, and this one warmed my heart! Definitely watch it, it's too sweet!" -Kristin Bass-Petersen, VP Digital MediaA.1. Sauce: New Friend Request In an announcement video for their new label, A.1. satirizes online romance behind a compelling piano backdrop-- at one point you might find yourself sympathizing with the sauce! The small, surprisingly realistic details help make this one of our CEO and Podmother Samantha Strickland’s favorite spots! Here’s to happy holidays and more fantastic ads in 2016!
